Rick has been the head coach of the Bears for 33 years and has been on the Bears coaching staff for 36 years. He is a graduate of Boyertown High School, where he played for the Legion team for 4 years, won the Specht Memorial Award, and was voted to the Berks All-Star team twice.
Under Rick's leadership, the Bears were American Legion World Series runner-up in 1988, third place in 2004, and final four in 2007. He was an assistant on the 1987 World Series champion and 1986 runner-up teams. He also coached the Bears to 14 PA Region 2 titles, 13 PA State titles, and 3 Mid-Atlantic National titles.
Rick has been selected to the PA State American Legion Hall of Fame, the Berks Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame, and the Tri-County Chapter
of the PA Sports Hall of Fame.
Associate Head Coach
Justin is in his first year on the Bears coaching staff and will become Head Coach of the Bear in 2021 on Rick's retirement.
Justin played collegiate baseball at Keystone College and West Chester University. At Keystone, he was a team captain and selected to the All-Region 19 team.
Justin has been the head baseball coach at Penn State Berks since 2012, guiding the Nittany Lions to 4 Northeastern Athletic Conference titles and 5 NCAA D3 Tournament appearances. Prior to joining the PSU Berks coaching staff, Justin was the pitching coach for Boyertown High School for 11 years and Boyertown Grizzlies Junior Legion coach for 2 years.
Craig has been an assistant coach of the Bears for 33 years. He is a graduate of Boyertown High School, where he played for the Legion team for 3 years, winning a PA Legion state championship in 1971. He went on to play baseball at St Joseph's University, earning an All-MAC Conference Selection at second base three times. He was inducted into the St Joe's Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019. Craig is also a member of the PA Legion Hall of Fame.
Craig coached the BMBL A's for four years before joining the Bears as an assistant in 1988. Over his 33 year coaching career with the Bears, they won 14 PA Region 2 titles, 13 PA State titles, 3 Mid-Atlantic National Titles, and one American Legion World Series runner up.
Steve is in his second season as the Bears pitching coach. He played collegiate baseball at Alverrnia and is a graduate of Boyertown High School, where he was varsity baseball MVP and first team all-PAC in 2011. Steve played Legion ball for the Bears for 3 years, winning a state title in 2009.
Dave is in his first year as an assistant with the Bears. He has been an assistant coach at Penn State Berks since 2017. Since he has been an assistant at PSU Berks, the Nittany Lions have won 2 Northeastern Athletic Conference titles and made 2 NCAA D3 Tournament appearances.
Dave played collegiate baseball at Centanary College.
