The Bears lost the opening gam of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament 8-4 to Frederick, the Maryland state champ. Frederick jumped out to an early lead, scoring four in the bottom of the first. The Bears battled all the way back, scoring four in the top of the third, highlighted by a two-out, two-strike single by Steven Colucci that scored two to tie the game. The Bears had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the top of the fifth, when they had bases loaded and no on out, but a bad luck sharp grounder to the drawn-in shortstop and two strikeouts ended the threat without any Boyertown runs. Frederick took the momentum from that hold and scored four in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good. Peyton Moyer reached base on three of his four plate appearances, with two walks and a hit-by-pitch.
With the loss, the Bears face the loser of game 3 in an elimination game at 10:00 am on August 4.
