Evan Hetrick’s 2-run single in the fifth-inning gave the Bears the lead that they never relinquished en route to a 4-1 win over West Lawn in a Berks County Playoff winner’s bracket semi-finale. Hetrick’s hit was set up by a two-out single by Jonathan Myers, Myer’s second stolen base of the game, a walk to Peyton Moyer, and a balk. The Bears added two insurance runs in the sixth inning on a walk to Luke Moser, Tyler Hoffman’s team-leading third triple of the season, and a wild pitch. Zach Rothermel scattered 5 hits and 3 walks in earning the complete game victory. For the Owls, Ryan Kelly drew a pair of walks, one of which set up West Lawn’s lone run (scored by Lucas Gensemer on Mason Sensenig’s sacrifice fly) and made several stellar plays at third base.
With the win, Boyertown advances to the winner’s bracket finale versus Norchester tomorrow night at Owl’s Field at Ted Palka Park at 7 PM.
