The Bears swept a Bracket 3 doubleheader in the Frederick (MD) Wooden Bat Tournament on Saturday, beating Sykesville MD 9-3 and Silver Spring MD 8-0.
In the opener against Sykesville, the Bears batted around in back-to-back innings, scoring all 9 of their runs. In the second inning, they drew 6 walks to begin the inning; in the third, Steve Rinda lined a bases-loaded, 2-run single. Ethan Ferraro scattered 6 hits in the victory.
In the second game against Silver Spring, Steve Rinda and Tyler Sharayko combined on a 1-hitter as the Bears blanked Silver Spring. The Bears collected 8 hits and 8 walks in the victory.
If the Bears defeat (or tie) Boonesboro tomorrow, they will win their bracket and advance to a Monday semi-final versus the winner of Bracket 1. The Bracket 1 winner will be decided tomorrow when host Frederick plays West Lawn at 9 AM.
