Overview - for Players

Welcome to the Blue Collar Baseball Project, one of several initiatives being undertaken by Boyertown Baseball to help Boyertown players with the college baseball recruiting process. The Blue Collar Baseball Project is a customized, player-focused profile that can be provided to prospective college coaches to showcase that player's abilities both on and off the baseball field, similar to services offered through Perfect Game or Prep Baseball Report. To be eligible to participate in the Blue Collar Baseball Project, the player must be in grades 9-12 and play for Boyertown in some baseball capacity, whether that is on one of the school teams, the Senior Legion Bears, one of the teams in the Boyertown Midget Baseball League, or one of the teams in the Pine Forge Athletic Association.

The cost to participate is $300 per year, unless the player is on the Bears Senior Legion team or the Blue Collars 17U Showcase team. Players making those teams receive a player profile at no charge.

The registration form to participate (for players not on the Bears or Blue Collars) is below. After the registration form is submitted, you will receive an order confirmation email that includes a link to a questionnaire at the bottom of the email. The questionnaire provides us with the information we need to create your initial player profile. Please fill out the questionnaire as completely as possible before submitting it. A member of the Blue Collar Baseball Project coaching staff will review your questionnaire answers before generating your initial player profile.

When the initial profile is completed, you will receive an email with a PDF of the profile attached. You are encouraged to write a cover letter to accompany your player profile, so you can email both to colleges you are interested in. Blue Collar Baseball Project coaching staff is available to review and provide feedback on your cover letter.

Your name and position(s) will also be listed on the Player Profile -> For Scouts page. Verified college scouts will also be able to request the most recent copy of your profile through the Boyertown Legion Bears website, under Player Profiles -> For Scouts.

Once you have a profile, it is important to keep it up to date with new accomplishments, your current GPA, new coach comments, and any new videos. Please contact the Blue Collar Baseball Project coaching staff to make any needed updates.

FAQ

I'm interested in playing for XYZ University. How do I get on their radar screen?

Your player profile is the best way to begin the conversation and gauge their interest. We strongly recommend that you personally email your profile and a cover letter to coaches at schools you are interested in attending. Blue Collar Baseball Project coaches are happy to review and critique your cover letter.

Do I have to play on the Senior Legion Bears to participate in the Blue Collar Baseball Project?

No. While the program is available to Senior Legion and 17U Showcase players at no additional charge, ANY player who is playing baseball for a Boyertown team is eligible to participate in the Blue Collar Baseball Project. This includes players on any of the Boyertown school teams, players on a team in the Boyertown Midget Baseball League, and players playing for Pine Forge Athletic Association. The goal of the Blue Collar Baseball Project is to help all Boyertown baseball players.

How long is my player profile available through the website?

Player profiles are listed as long as the player is a member of the Blue Collars 17U Showcase Team or the Senior Legion Bears within the past year, or as long as the player paid the $300 annual fee within the past year.

What if I pay the $300 annual fee and then make the Blue Collars or Bears?

Your player profile will be available for one year from the date you made Blue Collars or Bears. We are unable to refund any of the $300 fee.

There's a lot of personal information on my player profile - who can see it?

We take your privacy very seriously and your profile is only available via email to verified college coaches, scouts, or recruiters. A limited number of coaches within the Blue Collar Baseball Project will have access to your profile, to perform any needed updates. You will always have access to your own profile.

How do I obtain the current version of my player profile?

We will email your initial profile to the player and his parents/guardians after it is complete. To request your profile after that, email us as [email protected] with a list of the requested changes. A member of the Blue Collar Baseball Project coaching staff will review your request and respond to your email when the updates are complete.

What's included once I have paid my fee?

Your profile will be listed on the Boyertown Legion Bears website and available to college coaches, scouts, and recruiters for 1 year from the day you registered. You are also eligible for two evaluation videos and approved gametime videos to be linked to your profile. Perhaps most importantly, you will have access to Blue Collar Baseball Project coaches who can help you through the college recruiting process.
