Since 1988, the coaching duo of head coach Rick Moatz and his assistant, Craig Eddinger, have steered the Boyertown American Legion Baseball Bears to a record of 1307-367 (including a 550-87record in the Berks County League) as of the end of June, 2019.  Those statistics translate into an overall winning percentage of .778and .863 in the league (only once in their tenure has the team finished a season with an overall winning percentage under .600).  In their amazing dossier of coaching accomplishments, the Moatz/Eddinger team has notched 14 Berks County titles, 14 Region 2 titles, 13 State Titles, 3 Mid-Atlantic National Regional titles, 3 appearances in the American Legion World Series, 1 National Runner-Up – and, of course, the numerous young men that have become exemplary citizens.

After over 30 seasons manning the coaching reins of the prestigious Boyertown Legion program, however, both Rick and Craig have decided that it is time to turn the controls over to the next generation of Boyertown coaches.  The contributions of these two Legion Hall-of-Famers are inestimable and will be remembered through the ages.

As a result, the Board of Directors of Boyertown Area Youth Baseball, Ltd., is seeking candidates for the position of head coach of the Boyertown Bears Senior Legion baseball team who will continue the program’s legacy of excellence.  In order to make as seamless of a transition as is possible, the Board seeks to identify a coach who would serve with Coach Moatz as Assistant Head Coach for the 2020 Legion Baseball season so as to fully assume the head coaching reigns beginning in the 2021 Legion Baseball season.  The Board desires to make this identification by the end of August, 2019.

Candidates interested in being considered for this position are requested to submit a letter of interest and a resume by Friday, July 26, 2019, to Jim Comport ( ), President of Boyertown Area Youth Baseball Ltd.
