Three pitchers combined on a 2-hit shutout as the Bears opened their participation in the 2023 Berks County Legion Baseball Playoffs with a 6-0 win over Reading. Zach Rothermel pitched 3 2/3 innings, Elijah Calvert 2, and Matt Smith 1 1/3 for the Bears, allowing only 1 walk while striking out 6. Peyton Moyer had a pair of hits for the Bears, while Luis Beltre went the distance on the mound for Reading.

The Knights play Daniel Boone in an elimination game tomorrow at noon at Reading’s George Field. The Bears advance to play West Lawn in a battle of tournament unbeatens at 7 PM, also at George Field.
